Brittany is full of historical gems to visit
Keriolet Castle (8km)
The castle has a fascinating history, having been the residence of the Marquis de Chauveau, a French adventurer, and his wife, the Russian Princess Zénaïde Narischkine.
Its origins date back to the 13th century, and it has been transformed into a true jewel of 19th-century architecture.
Today, the Keriolet castle offers visitors the chance to tour the richly decorated interiors of its various rooms, such as salons, bedrooms and libraries, which reflect the opulent lifestyle of the period. The surrounding gardens provide a peaceful setting for strolling and enjoying nature.
Oyster beds at Belon Castle (28km)
After the presence of the Gallo-Romans, in the Middle Ages the manor was a quarantine lazareth for cattle and a fortified site to guard the port of Bélon (presence of a battery with its cannon). The manor house was later embellished in the 18th century with a white stone façade.
In 1864, Auguste de Solminihac, creator of the Bélon oyster, founded the "Huîtrières" (oyster beds) of the castle here. The Solminihac family, pioneers of oyster farming and still the home of the same family, are passionate about this natural and historic domain.
Les Huîtrières de Bélon welcomes you with a constant concern for the preservation of the site, the promotion of know-how and the desire to bring this heritage to life.
Lanniron Castle (15km)
The Lanniron castle has a long history dating back to the 15th century. It was the residence of the bishops of Quimper for centuries, and boasts a remarkable architectural blend of different styles, notably Gothic and Classical.
The castle is surrounded by vast 17th-century terraced gardens, facing the former residence of the bishops of Quimper on the banks of the Odet. One of the very few examples of classical gardens from this period, it is considered one of the most beautiful gardens in Brittany. They offer a peaceful, picturesque setting for strolling and enjoying nature, with its botanically-rich park and century-old trees, a veritable showcase of greenery and tranquillity.
